Approximately 15% of the world’s population lives with some form of disability (WHO, 2016), and nearly one-third of this population is below 25 years (UNFPA, 2016). In Kenya, 71 % of the population is aged below 30 years, majority of them living in either in rural areas or informal settlements in the urban centers where access to infrastructure and services is a big challenge (KNBS, 2010). Youth with disabilities in Kenya experience multiple challenges in all aspects of life; this includes access to education, employment, healthcare and social protection services. The national conference on youth with disabilities aims at building disability inclusive employment demand and supply to address labor market imperfections and encourage the employment of persons with disabilities towards compliance of 5% employment of PWDs in the Kenyan workforce.
